The Gardening

The weasel. Appears near the barn. Bane of the chip-o-munk.
The cat. Trying on a new hat.
Just vegetables. Nothing you can smoke, you damn hippies.
Looks like a good place for a "garden".
Gardens need raincoats too. Why not decorate the raincoats with sticks? Wood is water's natural friend. Rain goes right to the wood leaving the raincoats dry! Genius!
Bringin' the tractor in for a tune-up. Should we be worried about the tractor graveyard?
Horse tries to kiss Shelly. Ewww. Horses smell like horse poop.
This horse is keeping it's distance. It smelled like he just farted. Or pooped. There was poop everywhere.
The "garden" map. Sorry, no actual treasure.
The return of the weasel. He's in the chip-o-munk house. Bad news!
This is how you garden! With sweet-ass hats on your melon.
How many beers can you spot in this picture?
 Only two plots not done...
The end of a long day of hard labor. No better way to relax than to climb a tree.

If Walls Could Talk (you'd run screaming!)

There's always more painting to be done. Think you've painted the dog for the last time? Nope, he needs another coat. This is the BEFORE of the "liberry".
AFTER. This is "apple crisp", what we used to call "orange".
BEFORE. Downstairs "living" room. Lights circa 1974 Rickel's.
 AFTER. 2013 "Depot Special".
 BEFORE. "Liberry".
 AFTER.
Need further proof that civilization collapsing wouldn't be all that bad? Try living in a society that believes these kinds of warnings are necessary. I guess it comes down to whether you believe that blinds kill people or people kill people. I choose to believe blinds are just part of natural selection. It's beautiful in its own way.

Cabin Fever

Winter's end is nigh; thoughts meander like a honeybee in a futile search for pollen. What happens when there are no flowers? Only cold and darkness. 'Tis enough to make one drown one's sorrows! Alas, the squirrel provides no answers!
In Pittsford: Hangin' the buckets out to dry and perhaps catch some tree blood (aka sap).
Sugar Shack: Makin' maple syrup with tree blood. Think about it.
Sheeps: You can't see it here, but these sheep had devil eyes and are clearly not to be trusted.
From his winter slumber emerges the chipmunk, chip-O-munk or as it's known locally, a "striped sitting mouse". No doubt from their penchant for sitting on anything that isn't nailed down.
This barn is open and ready, baby. Tractor started on the first pull! Spring (sp?) is here!

It's Snowing... Again

The View (not the Yentas on the TV!) looking west from West Rutland near the house.
The neighbors thought we was cragy (pronounced like "crazy" only more so) when we said we couldn't wait for it to snow!
Who's "cragy" now! Ha Ha HA! The tractor is our Friend!
The backyard is a corn-o-copio of aminal tracks. These here are deers.
Along follered the snow is the cold tempatures! -15 is what are thermo-meter tell'd us.
 It were a White Christmas!
 Pollo!
The West Rutland Marsh under 10 feet of Snow!

Take the Hill!

It was the year of our Lord 2012. October 20th.
Pittsford, Vermont. The "Pumpkin Party".
The pumpkins are out! Completely unaware what is about to befall them!
 Kids!
There were too many kids, so some of them were taken away. Or maybe this was the hay ride.
General Theory of Human Nature: Rule #547 - Kids always use too much glue. Having said that, perhaps the children were depressed and these pumpkins are crying. So sad.
 Shelly the popcorner.
Let's take the hill! The "Hill" going into the backyard, we're taking it back / choppin' down all the crap.
The whimsical sign at the end of "Deer Leap" Trail.
Looking west from Deer Leap. I didn't see any "jumpers".
Deer Leap from the road (Route 4 going to Killington). The building is the Long Trail Inn. You can send your hippie hiker friends packages (containing patchouli, incense or whatever other herbs you can imagine) care of the inn as they hike the Long Trail.
 Vermont Cactus?
The 2012 Halloween float from Fabian Earth Moving. Ed & Shelly in character.
The float from behind.
The kids were dressed as birds, creepy and cute at the same time.
Beads were given out along the parade route. It's tradition.
This giant bird was part of the float armada. In theory, this is the daddy or mommy of the little birds.
There were lots and lots of peoples all along the streets of Rutland, Vermont for the Halloween Parade I tells ya.
The freaks were out in downtown Rutland!

Leaf Peepin' & Horse Whisperin'

Leaf Peepin' and Horse Whisperin' near Bird (or Birdseye) Mountain off Route 4A near Castleton, Vermont.
Weather's getting colder! This reminds me of my "General Theory of Human Nature": Rule #14 - People like to burn things (everybody likes fire!).
The owner of the barn in our yard. He enjoys nuts.
Shelly pretending to order around her Uncle. John put up the textured paint (it was a little messy!) and I painted it the next day. Shelly supervised / did the edging...
 After 2 coats of paint.
Note the texture on the left... now we just need carpet!
This is what a new boiler looks like! Unfortunately, it's in our house so we had to pay for it.
What a wonderful view this tractor has. Near Bird Mountain.
The barn's owner. Apparently not thrilled that I was near the barn. At least I don't pee and poo on the floor! Hint hint!
